Apocolypse, Is That You?

When I saw that the Oak Ridge Boys (yes the long-haired, foreign-made product hating Country group from the 70's and 80's) had a new song called "Seven Nation Army" I thought to myself, "um, are you serious?"

I remember sitting with my younger sister as a kid listening to my parents old 33s on the tiny record player they bought us, playing and singing along to "Elvira." That is one of the cheesiest (and insidiously catchy) songs ever written. But the wildly cheesy, terribly unhip Oak Ridge Boys covering The White Stripes? C'mon!

Well, lo and behold. It's THAT "Seven Nation Army" and it's ... I'm not even sure I can describe it. Hearing those old, stiff, twangy voices, that tinny sounding piano, does Jack White know about this? I mean, I know he likes country and all but The Oak Ridge Boys? Just because they're old and had one good song doesn't make this a good idea. But hey, you have a listen for yourself and see what you think, if the world doesn't end first ;)
