Person Of The Week: Dick Trickle
My dad is totally into car racing so growing up, I watched a lot of stock car races with him. One driver whose name always stuck out was Dick Trickle. What parents name their son Richard when their last name is Trickle? Either completely clueless, ruthlessly mean, or wickedly funny parents, that's who. I have no idea what this man's childhood must have been like but he certainly seems to have taken any ribbing he must have received in stride. He's billed as the winningest short track driver in history and he became Nascar's oldest Winston Cup Rookie Of The Year at age 48. Dick Trickle. Man, just saying it makes me laugh. How is it even a real name? I dunno what it says about me that all these years later the name still sticks with me. I guess I'm just that (proudly) immature.
