Tron: Legacy

We went and saw Tron: Legacy tonight. After weeks of Jared exclaiming "That. Looks. So. Good" every time the ad came on TV, there was no way we were not seeing this movie opening night. This was just fine with me because I thought the film looked super cool too. I just don't try to get any wild expectations for films before I see them and actually try to avoid paying attention to previews so as little as possible is given away beforehand.

Well, we were not disappointed. The film is just as visually arresting as you would expect. The Daft Punk soundtrack was an inspired choice. And Jeff Bridges is great as always. I will say that his younger-CGI 'clone' Clu was not realistic looking to me, but it's not distracting. As far as technology has come over the years, when it comes to facial features it's still not quite there yet, in my opinion. Although not a large role, Beau Garrett's Gem was absolutely stunning too. I'd like to pretend I've ever heard of Beau Garrett but man, her eyes were absolutely hypnotizing.

I also liked Garrett Hedlund as Kevin's (Bridges) son Sam. And I must admit, he's awfully easy on the eyes too, haha. There seem to have been mixed reviews for this film by critics but I'm not sure what their beef was. I think this movie was a fitting and interesting sequel and if judging by the lonely, uber-Tron geek sitting next to us, his squealing, giddy hand clapping and commenting throughout the film should be a testament to how much fans of the 1980 original should enjoy this one.
